Every year at artisan, we decide on a theme for our Christmas campaign and how best to show our appreciation to our clients whilst spreading festive cheer. We tend to choose a light-hearted message to accompany a gift carefully designed by us. They are always well received and it is great to know we are putting a smile on someone’s face.
This year we wanted to do something a little different. This year we wanted to put a smile on even more faces!
Here at artisan, in the true spirit of Christmas, we would like to spend the festive season donating and contributing in any way possible to local charities that we feel are doing exceptional work. Whilst all charities are extremely deserving, we have chosen three that represent a range of people within our community and who we are truly excited to be supporting at such a special time of year.
For those of you who aren’t aware of the fantastic work being done by Carole and Rob Hughes, their charity, Anna’s Hope, supports children and young people diagnosed with brain tumours. Having lost their own daughter, beautiful three year old Anna, to a brain tumour ten years ago, they bravely embarked on a journey to help all other children diagnosed with brain tumours and set up Anna’s Hope in her memory. Anna’s Hope has four main aims:
- to help the child and their family during treatment
- to help through Specialist Neuro-Rehabilitation
- to help through happy memories
- to help through family support groups
The work being done by Anna’s Hope is extraordinary, with EVERY PENNY they raise helping the children they support. It is vitally important that the charity gets the support it needs through their Trustees, willing volunteers and kind donations. So far, Anna’s Hope has raised an incredible £1.35 million. Any child diagnosed with a brain tumour in the UK is touched or treated by Anna’s Hope in some way. What an amazing charity!
Alongside providing support for children and young people, we also wanted to recognise and help the elderly of our community. Evergreen Care Trust is based in Stamford and aims to support the elderly by advocating friendship and practical support. They believe that older people are amongst our nation’s greatest resources and we couldn’t agree more. Aiming to treat them with dignity and respect, as well as offering practical help, is invaluable and makes a real difference to a person’s quality of life. The Trust is not about charity and simply doing things for ageing and vulnerable people; instead they encourage, support and enable people to take responsibility, to do and to be themselves.
Lastly, the third charity we have chosen to support over the Christmas period is Stamford Foodbank. Our local Foodbank is part of a nationwide network supported by The Trussell Trust. They work to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
Last year, the Stamford branch was able to provide 805 three-day emergency food parcels to local people in crisis situations. This makes a huge difference to people in the area in need of a helping hand and extra support when they have fallen on harder times. For many of us, when we think of Christmas we think of a warm home, presents under the tree and a roast dinner. However, for some it is a difficult choice between simply warmth or food. During the festive season Stamford Foodbank provides Christmas hampers for those in crisis, ensuring they have food on the table and smiles on their faces.
This Christmas, we would like to show our support by offering our time and resources to these charities. For Anna’s Hope members of our artisan team are volunteering their time to be dressed as fairies whilst collecting money and bag packing. For Evergreen Care Trust, we are helping to raise awareness and donating our time as we go around the town to sell raffle tickets; keep on the look out to see how you can bag amazing prizes! Lastly, for Stamford Foodbank we are donating food that will help to stock the Christmas hampers that are so very much appreciated.
We are really looking forward to helping these amazing causes this year and hope we have inspired one or two of you to join us in our Christmas charity festivities!
